Located in Meursault and established in 2008, Domaine Berlancourt is one of the smallest domaines in Burgundy with 1.5 hectares under vine. Adrien Berlancourt was just 20 years old when he founded the domaine with his father Pierre, following stints working with Etienne Sauzet and Domaine Trapet. Their aim is to produce the most natural and high-quality Chardonnay and count as friends Burgundy legends Jean-Francois Coche Dury and the ex-DRC winemaker Bernard Noblet, who have offered advice along the way.
Despite the limited size of the domaine, they have managed to produce four wines in separate plots, all bottled as Bourgogne Blanc. They farm the vines 100% organically with all work done by hand. They also use indigenous yeasts and a low amount of sulphur, with a minimum influence in the cellar without lees stirring. The wines are fermented and aged in new oak for up to 3 years, with each cuvee spent up to 18-20 months before bottling. In order to produce with the best quality, only around 4000-5000 bottles are made per year.
